IMX 40 “Air III” Overall Winner and winner of IMS 1
This year’s Round Gotland, organised by KSSS in Sweden, was one of the fastest for many years and the boats crossed the finish line in record time. Unlike previous years, the wind was never lacking and the very strong winds never did turn up. A steady north-easterly breeze from 6 to 8 m/sec made the race finish quickly and without any serious problems for the crews.
The skipper of IMX 40 “Air III”, Robert Carenfelt, was overwhelmed by his and his crew’s success, especially considering that he had planned to sell his IMX 40 and have a sabbatical year without racing. He was pleased that he had changed his mind in time.
X-362 Sport “X-Online” Winner of IMS 2
The race was not only a great success for the IMX 40 racers, but also the X-362 Sports and X-332 Sport did extremely well.
On board the X-362 Sport “X-online” were skipper Lars-Erik Sylvin, his wife Inger and a close-knit crew. They had sailed the race many times before, but this was their first victory. Second came X-362 Sport “Tetu IV” by Timo Kari and third the Swedish X-Yachts’ dealer Johan Delin in his X-332 Sport “X-Team”.
